Enucleation And Orbital Socket Care

Enucleation is the removal of the eye while leaving the eye muscles and remaining orbital contents intact. This type of ocular surgery is indicated for a number of ocular tumors, in eyes that have suffered severe trauma, and in eyes that are otherwise blind and painful. This type of procedure usually occurs at the end of a long process and may be associated with strong emotions by the patients. Dr. Braunstein is sensitive to the sense of loss some patients may feel and has helped many of her patients navigate the process from pre-operative evaluation to coordinating post-operative ocularist care and long term socket care.
