Morpheus 8 Rf Microneedling

Morpheus 8 is a microneedling device that is unlike any other that currently exists. It utilizes radiofrequency energy to remodel and contour the face and body via subdermal adipose remodeling. This fractional treatment penetrates deep into the skin and fat for a smoother and sleeker appearance.

What Is Morpheus 8?

Morpheus 8 is a device that combines micro-needling with radiofrequency technology for fractional resurfacing that stimulates collagen production. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, the building blocks will reorganize themselves in a natural anti-aging process.

โ€‹Because the needles are coated, and the radiofrequency energy comes out from the very tip of the needles, there is little to no damage to the dermis, and this procedure provides an extremely uniform effect.

Benefits of RF Energy:

Like any form of energy, RF has the capacity to produce heat. Heating the skinโ€™s deeper layers induces new collagen and elastin production and encourages cell turnover, helping loose skin become firmer, thicker, and more youthful-looking.

โ€‹An advantage of using RF to heat tissues, as opposed to lasers (which use higher-frequency light waves), is that the lower frequency of RF can safely penetrate to a deeper level, helping to improve skin tone and structure, even lifting tissues. Lasers, for the most part, work to improve the skinโ€™s surface. Moreover, RF can safely treat more patients with different skin tones without risking permanent discoloration

Benefits of morpheus 8 microneedling

  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Perfect, uniform effect
  • No thermal damage to the dermis
  • Little risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which is common with other resurfacing methods
  • Safe on all skin tones
  • Deep and safe fractional treatment

Morpehus 8 can reduce the appearance of:

  • Acne or acne scars
  • Poor skin texture
  • Sun damage
  • Deep lines and creases
  • Mild sagging or jowls
  • Enlarged pores
  • Stretch marks

Morpheus 8 Treatment Areas

Morpheus 8 can be used on any areas that can benefit from sub-dermal renewal. Areas of the face and body that exhibit wrinkles or discoloration are suitable for treatment. Morpheus8 is effective in the treatment of acne scars as well as active acne. The most commonly treated areas include the face and neck, as well as the abdomen, under the upper arm, the side of the knee, which is beneficial for tightening loose skin with underlying fatty tissue.

FAQs

As mentioned above, you arrive about one hour before weโ€™ll start your treatment, and we apply topical numbing cream. Once this has fully taken effect, we get started after the treatment areas are cleaned. The procedure is really simple. You lie on our treatment table, and the Morpheus 8 handpiece is placed onto your skin. The microneedles extend and penetrate your skin at various depths, ranging from 1 to 4mm. The depth is set according to areas treated โ€“ more shallow around the eyes and forehead, deeper in the lower face and neck. When they reach their depth, the gold-plated tips of the microneedles deliver a pulse of radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis layer or fat layer (depending on the penetration depth). The energy level is also set depending on individual goals. This energy heats the dermis. When the body senses heat in the dermis layer, it assumes there has been a wound, so it initiates a wound-healing response. This involves remodeling all existing collagen in the area, and then beginning the production of new collagen. Since collagen provides the skinโ€™s structural support latticework, this instantly tightens the skin, and then the increased collagen continues to build your results.

We move the handpiece in a coordinated path, placing it, activating the needles, and then moving it to the next adjacent spot. This is continued until we have completely covered your treatment areas.

The number of treatments depends on the settings used and how the skin responds to each treatment. Those with darker skin require lower settings and, therefore, may need more treatments. Patients tolerating higher settings may need fewer. Depending on your Morpheus 8 treatment regime, you can expect to have between 2-5 sessions 1-3 months apart.

A Morpheus 8 treatment with Dr. Braunstein takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. Youโ€™ll need to allow for time for the topical numbing anesthetic to fully numb your skin.

Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks, the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to three months after treatment.

The increase in collagen production is a permanent change. Unfortunately, your body continues to reduce its collagen production by one percentage point every year, so you have to contend with that continuing decline when weighing your results. The improvements made with Morpheus 8โ€™s RF energy generally continue to build for up to six months. Continuing treatments over time can continue as maintenance.

When you arrive at Dr. Braunsteinโ€™s Morristown office, we apply a topical numbing anesthetic cream to the areas you will have treated with Morpheus 8. This takes about 45 minutes to fully take effect. This topical anesthetic ensures you are comfortable during the treatment. Every personโ€™s pain perception is slightly different, and whereas some people feel absolutely nothing, others may feel some pinching. The treatment settings can be adjusted to ensure that you are comfortable while still being effective.

Patients should moisturize the treatment area with a bland cream such as Aquaphor or Vaniply and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing their future risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also reduce wrinkles and slow the aging process.

Since patient downtime is minimal, makeup can be applied 1 to 2 days after the treatment. Patients should expect to see micro lesions (small dots in the skin) a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week, depending on treatment parameters.

Radiofrequency energy is measured in frequency or wavelengths per second. All forms of energy, from the sunโ€™s ultraviolet rays to gamma rays, are classified according to their frequency on the electromagnetic spectrum.

Radiofrequency energy is one category on this spectrum, along with radio and TV waves, WiFi signals, even microwave ovens. The RF energy used in skin tightening is about 450 kilohertz on the slow end of the RF range. This makes this form of energy at this wavelength quite calm.

An advantage of using RF energy to heat tissues and generate new collagen and elastin production, as opposed to lasers (which use higher-frequency light waves), is that lower frequency RF energy can safely penetrate to a deeper level, without damaging the skin surface. Lasers generally work to improve the superficial skin layer, as that is where the energy is absorbed. This is also why RF energy is safe for patients with darker skin tones, while laser treatments can cause hyperpigmentation.

Bottom line? Radiofrequency energy has been studied extensively for its impact on humans and found to be safe. The main risk associated with the use of this form of energy is the potential for burns, but Morpheus8 and other RF treatments involve highly controlled delivery of RF energy with internal safeguards. These treatments and devices have been cleared by the FDA for skin tightening.
