How The Brow Ages Your Face

The aging process affects the upper eyelids and the eyebrows. A brow lift can enhance the results of eyelid surgery, as changes to one area impact the other. As we age, the brow’s tail often drops, leading to hooded skin and a loss of arch in women. In men, only slight descent can create the illusion of heavy eyelids. Dr. Braunstein evaluates each patient’s unique needs to achieve the right outcome.

What Is Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure aimed at elevating and rejuvenating the eyebrows and forehead. This surgery can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve forehead symmetry, and give the face a refreshed look. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation and involves making small incisions along the hairline or within the brow to lift the tissues to a more elevated position.

Brow Lift + Blepharoplasty

Combining a brow lift with blepharoplasty can comprehensively rejuvenate the upper face and eye area. The brow lift elevates the position of the eyebrows and improves the contour of the forehead, while blepharoplasty addresses the excess skin and fat of the upper and/or lower eyelids. This combination can create a more youthful, refreshed appearance and enhance the natural beauty of the eyes and surrounding areas.

Brow Lift Corrects:

  • Drooping or sagging eyebrows
  • Hooded eyelids
  • Frown lines and wrinkles on the forehead
  • Asymmetrical brow position
  • Low-set or flat eyebrows
  • Loss of the natural arch of the brow
  • Excess skin on the forehead
  • A tired or aged appearance
  • Imbalanced facial features

Minimally Invasive (Endoscopic) Brow Lift

The endoscopic brow lift involves small, hidden incisions behind the hairline to elevate the eyebrows. This technique releases the ligaments holding down the brow and lifts the outer portion to improve contour and reduce eyelid hooding. Sutures are used to secure the brow in place. The endoscopic approach results in a natural, long-lasting lift with barely perceptible incision marks and is performed with upper and lower eyelid surgery for optimal results.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift With Neurotoxins

Non-surgical brow lift using neurotoxins, such as Botox or Dysport, is a quick and minimally invasive alternative to surgery. The procedure involves injecting small amounts of neurotoxins into specific muscles that cause wrinkles and drooping in the brow area. This relaxes the muscles, allowing the skin to smooth and the eyebrows to lift. Neurotoxin brow lifts are a great option for those seeking a subtle, temporary change without surgery.

The Procedure Details

The endoscopic brow lift is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation. The procedure begins with small incisions along the hairline or within the brow. An endoscope, which is a small camera attached to a thin tube, is inserted through one of the incisions to view the underlying tissues. This allows Dr. Braunstein to perform the procedure with greater precision and accuracy via extremely small incisions.

Dr. Braunstein gently releases the ligaments holding down the brow and elevates the outer portion of the brow to improve its contour. Small sutures are used to secure the brow in place. Finally, the incisions are closed with sutures or skin adhesive, and the area is covered with a dressing. After the procedure, patients can return home the same day, although some swelling and bruising are common for a few days to a week.

Recovery & Aftercare

After the endoscopic brow lift, it’s normal to experience mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the brow and upper eyelid area. The pain can be managed with pain medication. To promote proper healing and reduce the risk of complications, follow all aftercare instructions provided by Dr. Braunstein. This may include keeping your head elevated, avoiding bending and lifting, and avoiding strenuous physical activities.

Please remember that the final results of the endoscopic brow lift may not be visible for several weeks or months as the swelling and bruising subside and the implants or sutures settle into place. In general, the endoscopic technique ensures a quick recovery, and most patients can return to work and other normal activities within a week or two, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks.
